About Gandhi Mahatma Gandhi, also known as The Father of the Nation, was and is still most known as one of the most influential world leaders. He is most known for leading India's independence movement against the British in a non-violent way. This movement, along with many others, brought peace and independence to India in 1947. His actions inspired leaders across the world, and his legacy remains, even after more than 60 years of his death.
