Empowering
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
An empowering leader is someone who makes others feel emboldened, they inspire their followers to give their best, and this helps to cause a greater change. Gandhi had everyone’s trust and respect as he created more and more movements against the British. Before coming to India, he worked in South Africa helping the poor, and trying to improve their living conditions. As he returned to India, the news had already spread, and thousand of people already knew about him and respected him.
His greatest action that demonstrates his empowerment towards the people of India was changing his way of living. He became voluntarily poor; making his own clothes and living in poor conditions empowered people from all over the country, since they could relate to him. This action had the purpose of explaining to the Indians that he was one of them, and it gained the trust of more people. With more followers, Gandhi was able to start his movements against the British: Civil Disobedience Order, Salt March, etc. These movements were only possible because he was able to inspire and empower all his followers, in order to fight for their rights.

He empowered millions of Indians to resist and fight the British’s tyranny in their country, mostly by creating Civil Disobedience. If it wasn’t for the contribution of every person who took part of the Movements, India’s independence couldn’t have been possible, and Gandhi’s empowering to all people was a great part of it.
